Not only was Frostbike the launching point of the new Surly Midnight Special, but it also had a few other surprises for road plus. On the tire side, we were fortunate to catch a sneak peek of Vee Tire Co.’s upcoming tire, the Zilent Sports.
Since tan sidewalls are en vogue, the tire makes use of their Synthesis Side Wall which not only looks good, but it should protect from sidewall cuts as well.
Using a similar tread pattern to their Zilent City’Trekking tire, the Zilent Sports is definitely a road tire with lots of siping but a very smooth tread. However, cornering grip should be increased thanks to their DCC dual compound rubber with softer rubber on the shoulders and harder in the center.
Built with a 90tpi casing, the 650b x 47mm tire is Tubeless Ready and has a claimed weight of approximately 540g. Available in April, the Zilent Sports will sell for $50 each.
