There are plenty of bike-specific tools, but if you look in almost any mechanic’s toolbox you’ll also find some old standbys. Namely, pliers, wrenches, and cutting tools. Wanting to add to their wide-reaching collection of tools, Feedback Sports has just added three new options to cover those very tools.

Adjustable Pliers Wrench

One of the motivations for Feedback’s new tools is to save room and weight in the traveling mechanic’s tool box. To that effect, they claim their new Adjustable Pliers Wrench can replace an entire set of box-end wrenches.

Like the name implies, the Adjustable Pliers Wrench combines the function of both pliers and an adjustable wrench with parallel-clamping slip-lock jaws. Adjustable from 0-35mm (1 1/4″), the wrench relies on your grip to prevent the jaws from camming out and rounding off fasteners. Because of that, they can be used on more fragile aluminum components like fork top caps, brake bleed hardware, etc. To adjust the size of the wrench, there is a spring-loaded push button with a printed scale to set it to a precise size. And because the jaws are parallel-clamping, the size setting doesn’t have to be perfect to get a firm grasp on the fastener as there is still a range of clamping movement for any set size.

Feedback sports adjustable pliers wrench jaws

Due to the width of the jaws, these won’t be able to be used as an adjustable cone wrench – though you could probably grind or machine the jaws down if you really wanted to.

Measuring 7″ long, the tool is priced at $55.

Key Features:

  • Compact 7in (180mm) forged steel body with double dipped, rubber textured grip.
  • 2-Sided laser etched metric scale helps demarcate clamp opening and determine fastener size.
  • Functional jaw opening range of 0-1.25in (0-35mm) covers the majority of bicycle hardware.
  • Replaces an entire set of Metric and SAE wrenches and sockets up to 1-1/4in (35mm) – saving space in travel and home kits.
  • Spring-loaded push button allows fast, slip lock adjustment of jaw opening.
  • Smooth surface, non-marring jaws prevent damage to surfaces.
  • Durable, 45 HRC jaw hardness for a long service life.
  • Ideal hand tool to complete professional-grade portable kits and DIY home workshops alike.
  • Effective in use on fork top caps, brake bleed ports, axle nuts, pedals, and more.

Mini Needle Nose Pliers

Feedback Sports Mini Needle Nose Pliers

Fairly self-explanatory, the Mini Needle Nose Pliers are a compact version of the tool at 6.25″ in length. The spring-loaded retraction and chunky file-tread grip make the pliers easy to use and comfortable to hold while cutting jaws provide wire cutting up to 1.5mm.

The Mini Needle Nose Pliers sell for $30 per pair.

Mini Diagonal Cutters

Rounding out the group, Feedback has a new Mini Diagonal Cutter that uses the same grip as the Needle Nose Pliers. Anyone who uses zip-ties should have a pair of diagonal cutters like this that can cut the end of the ties perfectly flush, but they can also be used to cut wire up to 1.5mm in diameter.

Compared to my Crescent miniature cutters, the Feedback Mini Diagonal cutters are about the same size but have a more substantial grip. The Crescent cutters are also spring-loaded and have a slight edge on getting into tight spaces, though the Feedback cutters are more comfortable to hold.

You can pick up a pair of the Feedback Sports Diagonal cutters also at $30 each.

Key Features:

  • Compact 5-inch (127 mm) length – lightweight, portable, and easy to use.
  • Snub-nosed cutting wedge has a flush-cut outer chamfer for close cuts against precision surfaces.
  • File tread textured grips with firm but comfortable rubber surface for hours of fatigue-free use.

Obligatory post for anybody who hasn’t seen/used/admired the original: The Pliers Wrench is probably the most famous tool made by Knipex. I wonder whether this clone has the same quality. And the comment about not being a cone wrench is curious, because the Knipex Pliers Wrenches have already been modified via Electrical Discharge Machining to thin them down to an adjustable cone wrench, by pro mechanic Will Bryan.

These are a Knipex cobra knock off. I have the cobras and other Knipex adjustable wrenches in a multitude of sizes and they’re my go to for stuff like tie rod end jam nuts for alignments etc. even over bigger pipe wrenches or my Snap-On Swedish pipe wrench since they don’t damage the nut very much they’re also better than those slip wrenches like the Wera Joker series for tight access when you’re working on a classic where someone used a mish mosh of different fastener sizes over the years.

It’s not like Knipex charges Snap On prices. I’d just buy the real deal.

I thought I’d seen a mention that they were available for purchase, but I’m failing at finding that article or webpage now. It might have been an article that said to contact him directly, as a made-to-order situation.

Tried to edit my comment but it doesn’t seem to be working–I think I may be remembering https://velo.outsideonline.com/road/road-gear/knipex-pliers-cone-wrench/ which lists his email at the bottom of the article.
