Felt is providing their Argos-Shimano team with special “Paris-Roubaix Edition” F-series road bikes for this weekend’s race. Compared to the standard edition race bike these have modified geometry and component selections to make them more comfortable and perform better on the cobbles.
Head- and seat tube angles were both made 1° slacker and the bike was lengthened throughout. Front-Center (horizontal measurement from BB to front axle) was increased 10mm, rear center (BB to rear axle) grew 12mm and fork length grew 12mm. The bottom bracket was dropped 3mm to accommodate these changes, putting it in the same position as the standard frame.
UPDATED: More pics added after the break, and we’ve learned that the geometry changes were all achieved by simply altering the dropouts. This helps explain how they were able to create a set of monocoque frames with new geometry for the team…something that normally requires new molds and a major commitment to production. As it stands, Felt’s marketing director Doug Martin says there’s no plans to turn it into a production model largely because the tweaks are so subtle.
Longer reach brakes were added, and frame clearance was adjusted to allow for 28c tires. Lastly, it got a nice bright green paint scheme, which should stand out well if the weather heads south.
