Fezzari Bikes, which launched in 2005, is changing its name to Ari Bicycles. The new name holds more meaning globally, and is universally easy to pronounce, something the original didn’t always accomplish.

“Ari is and will continue to be built upon the DNA of Fezzari, and you will continue to see it in every detail down to the name,” said Chris Washburn, CEO and founder of the newly named Ari Bicycles. “Our business model centers on providing custom-fit bikes, top-tier quality, and savings to every rider through our direct-to-consumer approach, and we will continue that under the name Ari.”

When I interviewed Chris years ago, he said the original name was intended to invoke a sense of flair and style, like Ferrari. But otherwise, it had no real meaning. Ari, however, means “to exist or to be” and carries positive meanings globally. That perfectly aligns with their team’s core ethos of “Be in the Moment”, too.

Ari has eight new bikes coming in 2024

This is the Wire Peak, their full-power eMTB.

Starting off with the new Nebo Peak, their first lightweight e-MTB (click that link for full details), you’ll see them launch a wide range of new and updated road, mountain, and other bikes, too. Look for those to start trickling out in mid March and continue throughout the year.

In the meantime, they were selling off existing models for a heck of a deal to clear out bikes with the old branding. New bikes will ship out with the new Ari name and branding on it, as shown here.

Hopefully they change the head tube badge to a stencil of Jeremy Piven.

Not what I was expecting but think it is better then their original name “Fezzari” which to me sounded like they were trying to be in the lines of “Ferrari”

Seeing as the founder specifically said he was trying to make it sound like “Ferrari” (as quoted in this very article that you commented on), sounds like they nailed it!

Remember Stradalli did the same thing? Know a few people with bikes from this brand and they’ve been quite pleased.

I have a Fezzari Veyo that I like well enough. Too bad future buyers won’t be able to lie and say they’re a boutique Italian brand like I can.

BikeRumor can rewind back to older Fezzari post where pretty much every comment was about how they should change their name.. That was like 5yrs ago.. Go look at every mtb forum on the same topic.. This name changed should have happened years ago but hey, at least they are finally doing it. You would talk to people after their demo’s or that wanted to buy the bike because it was a good value, but they just couldn’t do it because the name sounded so chinarello/poser. They easily could have rebranded to just “FZ” or yes even this “Ari” is better than stradalli or fezzari.

So is it A-Ree or Arr-ee or Arr-eye or A-r-eye?

Maybe it’s Japanese, “ah-ree”, which means roughly “is”, “exists”, “allowed”, “viable”

No I’m reading the name as Viable Bike Exists, Is Allowed.

Congrats to Ari! (I was very critical of their previous name as it sounded like a cheap Italian knockoff.) I think Ari will do very well! Beautiful colors and design. Veyo is one of the best-looking frames in the world.

I just don’t know about this company. Anytime a company puts a lot of stock in giving youtubers bikes or product it kind of turns me off.

Next step: Pro Tour team….then…world domination
Part of me wants a last generation Fezzari for the sake of nostalgia and posterity. Veyo or empire…

Instead of people making snide comments about Ferrari, now it sounds like an Israeli war criminal?

I have been impressed with what I have seen from them and even bought their fat bike last year. The name change seems like a step in the right direction.

I was never able to take the name ‘Fezzari’ seriously, regardless of how nice a bike they might produce. This is a HUGE improvement.

Ari is a popular Israeli name. I had an ‘Ari’ in my class in junior high school, plus came across a few other people named Ari. Maybe, it is just where I am in the USA or Fezzari is going for that demographic.

So I fiirst must remember what the brand used to be called to know how to pronounce the new name. Smart! Oh and also it seems like there is a new brand and new.bike brands succeed at a very high rate. Smarter!
