basso-2010-diamante-road-bikeBasso’s new 2010 Diamante road bike looks tempting, perhaps a little too much so.  The first production sample was stolen!

It’s a complete bike built with Campagnolo Chorus and Microtech carbon wheels, seatpost, headset and stem.  There’s not a lot of info about the new model on their website, but we did snatch a few pics of the frame…it’s pretty beefy where it should be, with a very, very robust bottom bracket area and a tapered 1-1/8″ to 1.5″ headtube that’s equally stout.

There’s a reward being offered, just contact Adam Biggs via email with your crimestopper tip.  If you swear you don’t know anything about it, just hit ‘more’ to see the pretty pictures…

It’ll probably turn up on Craigslist for $900, already converted to a fixie.

I always wonder if that could’nt be another marketing buzz just like for music (album is expected to be released on a given date, but pirate torrent downloads are available 6 weeks before…).

Can a serious company be so careless that they would only produce and rely on just one single prototype for testing…

I was, just like you who’s reading those lines, caught in the marketing trap.

Still, nice looking ride anyways.
