Think you might just one day upgrade to a BB386EVO frame but need to upgrade your current road bike now?

Future proof that purchase by going ahead with a BB386EVO crankset and FSA will make it fit into any frame except the Shimano pressfit standard.

The adapter shown above is basically two alloy caps that close the gap between a BB30/PFBB30 frame and the BB386EVO’s wider spindle, making it easy to upgrade the crankset with just $20-$25 worth of adapters.

See how the other, more expensive option works, along with some new and updated goodies after the break…

Supposing you have a road bike with a standard outboard bearing bottom bracket, and supposing it’s not Italian thread, you can use one of FSA’s new BB386EVO compatible bottom brackets to run the new crankset standard. The outer shell is oversized to house bearings with the required 30mm ID, and the BB386EVO spindle slides right in. With this, you could drop upto $250 for their ceramic-bearing BB. Plus the cost of the crankset.

The only potential downside is that the cranks have a little less inward bend, so if you typically ride with your heels canted inward, they may rub the crankarms more than usual.

Their new 10 speed chain. Which we first showed you at Sea Otter, is now ready. It uses their own plate design and is made at a third party plant that doesn’t do any other brands’ chains. It’s not merely rebadged chain from an established brand. FSA says they focused on durability and that it was tested to resist stretching better than other major brands.

For 2012, all K-Force Light products move away from the 3K weave and use the currently fashionable unidirectional finish to better match modern frames and components. The change affects both road and mountain bike products.

New K-Force Light and SLK MonoLink seatpost for use with Selle Italia saddles. It’ll be available in 27.2 and 31.6 diameters in 350mm length. Weight is 210g, and they’ll have an adapter to run normal saddles, too.
