In this week’s Gear Roundup, we check out the latest gear from 76 Projects, Fizik, Endura, Scott, and Tifosi. For me, the highlight has to be the A.S.S strapless top tube pack mount from 76 Projects – it turns any top tube pack into a strapless version of itself. Here are the details…

76 Projects ASS – Strapless Top Tube Pack Mount

Here’s a neat new Every Day Carry solution from 76 Projects; the Anti Strap System (aka A.S.S.). This piece of kit will allow you to mount any top tube pack without the use of straps, keeping your frame paint in top nick.

The strapless quick release system for top tube bags is composed of a top tube mounted slider and a clever little steerer tube clip. The clip directly replaces one 10mm headset spacer, itself becoming part of the headset assembly. From here, it simply clips onto any top tube pack with the supplied custom-cut VHB tape.

A slider mounted to the top tube gives you the quick release function. Pick up the 76 Projects ASS strapless top tube mounting system for ~~$74.49~~.

OK, that was a silly price, apparently, the 76 Projects currency converter is glitching. The real ASS price is in fact £19.50 / $27 for each element separately (since bolt-on bags could only need the front clip), or £35 / $48 for the complete pair. Don’t worry, you’ll be charged in £, so the $ figure is just an estimate anyway.

Scott Stego Plus Enduro Helmet

The new Scott Stego Plus boasts all the modern safety features you’d expect to find in a top-level enduro MTB helmet. MIPS technology deals with rotational impacts while EPS foam and PU pads provide protection for low and mid-energy impacts. Coverage looks generous, especially around the back of the head, and the vents are voluminous.

The Scott Stego Plus also gets a 360 Halo closure system and adjustable chin straps for dialing in fit. The visor flips up to stow goggles underneath. What caught our attention here is the fact that you can swap out the standard visor for a second visor that has a built-in GoPro mount; we think that’s pretty neat.

The Tifosi Tsali cycling sunglasses come with three interchangeable shatterproof polycarbonate lenses that provide 100% UV protection. What I love about velcro is it’s propensity to suck up mud and water – perfect for using on a saddlebag!

I had a look at the Tifosi website. I do like that many of their lenses are available as polarized. However the UV protection is only for UV-A and UV-B. I look for lenses that include UV-C protection, now that this wavelength has been detected on the ground from all the unusual solar storm activity in the last few years.
