Portland Design Works has been busy over the winter. Heading into the new year, they’re launching four new products that will help make it easier to go by bike. In addition to The Fatty Object we covered yesterday, there’s also a beautiful new Task Basket and Everyday Rack, plus Full Metal fenders for 650(b)east from PDW.
Task Basket
Up front, you can now carry more than a sixxer with the PDW Task Basket which is bigger than their Takeout Basket. Measuring 230 x 305 x 127mm for the inner dimensions, there’s also an integrated ULock carrying slot on the right side of the basket. The bottom of the basket has a bamboo platform, and the rack frame is made from aluminum tubing. Underneath you’ll also find a tube that is the perfect size to mount your headlight so your groceries don’t block your lumens.
To accommodate different bikes and handlebars, the mounting bracket is adjustable to fit 22.0 – 31.8mm handlebars, and is angle adjustable as well. The rack itself weighs 500g, and it has a maximum load capacity of 5 Kg. $129.
Everyday Rack
On the back, the new Everyday Rack will work with frames with eyelets – or frames that don’t have eyelets but do have q rear QR skewer.
Designed to fit up to 29 x 2.4″ tires, the 1.6lb rack includes a bamboo platform, aluminum frame, and carries a 25kg (55lb) weight limit.
Along with the lower mounting bars, the rack features adjustable attachment arms up top for quick and easy mounting. $99.
Full Metal Fenders 650 Beast
Finally, their Full Metal Fenders get a 650b update with the 650 Beast. The aluminum fenders will fit up to 650 x 46mm tires, and are specially designed to better fit 650b frames and forks. Officially, the fenders are 55mm wide, and weigh in at 454g which includes the rubber mudflaps and safety release tabs. $125.
