Los Angeles, California has been home to bicycle rack manufacturing pioneers, Hollywood Racks since their birth in the Hollywood Schwinn Bike Shop back in 1973. Since that time, they have become a leader in designing and producing high-quality bike racks for cars, trucks, SUVs, and RVs.
Hollywood Racks has been committed to remaining a family-owned business for three generations, and through their dedication have achieved the ability to to adapt to the changing landscapes of cycling and transportation.
Their vision from the beginning was to “make biking more accessible and convenient for all”.
Hollywood Racks, the Beginning
Henry Nusbaum designed one of the first folding bike racks in the back room of the Hollywood Schwinn Bike Shop. The sales reps from other bike companies noticed the racks and started purchasing them for their other retail clients.
By 1980 Henry closed the bike shop and started manufacturing the racks in Downtown Los Angeles. Henry’s son Neil, was a former mechanical engineer in aerospace, when he joined the company in 1986. Neil still holds the “head engineer and product designer” spot today.
Neil is responsible for growing the brand. He did so by introducing some of the first hitch racks to the market as well as distributing products internationally.
Hollywood Racks Today and Beyond
2014 saw Neil’s son, Evan join the team. Now Evan is the current Chief Executive Officer and is leading the charge to serve the eBike Industry with the development of eBike-specific, heavy-duty bike racks.

Especially our employees, many of whom have been with the company for 20+ years. We owe our gratitude to them for making this journey possible.“
