It’s almost time to tune into all the cycling action from the Hell of the North, the notorious Paris-Roubaix.

Known as one of the gnarliest cycling events among the ‘Classics’ of the European racing calendar, Paris-Roubaix returns this weekend, April 16-17.

The women’s and men’s events occur on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The points earned from this stage will contribute to the UCI World Ranking.

The men’s event has a storied history. One of cycling’s oldest races, it started in 1896. The 2022 race marks the astounding 119th running of the Paris-Roubaix .

Saturday’s race is the second iteration for women to race their own rugged route. A who’s who of the world’s most renowned women cyclists are prepared and ready for whatever they may face throughout the single-day race.

The Hell of the North

Worldwide, the Paris-Roubaix is one of the burliest ‘classics’ thanks to the course’s notorious cobblestones, dust, and mud. The conditions often make the racing raw and chaotic; exactly why you should tune in and watch.

Anyone’s Game

Last year’s champions, Sonny Colbrelli (men’s winner) and Lizzie Deignan (women’s champ) won’t compete in 2022 due to extenuating circumstances. Deignan is expecting her second child. Colbreilli is recovering from an unstable cardiac arrhythmia.

So the coveted Paris-Roubaix crown is ripe for the taking.

This race marks the end of the Classics tour in Northern Europe, as it starts just north of Paris and finishes at the border of Belgium in Roubaix.

HOW TO WATCH: PARIS-ROUBAIX 2022
