Valentine’s day has come and gone, which often involves a lot of red, white, and pink for obvious reasons. But this year there was another source of pink on February 14th – Rapha’s reissue of the Marco Pantani Climbing jersey.
Released on that day to honor the 15th anniversary of Pantani’s death, the jersey is part of a collaboration with the Pantani Foundation. Established by Marco’s mother, Tonina Pantani, the Pantani Foundation is meant to help underprivileged children, and a portion of the proceeds from the Climbing Jersey will go towards the foundation.
Designed with a subtle print based off fan’s road graffiti, the super lightweight jersey also features hits of embroidered emblems and printed graphics to complete the look. Coupled with mesh side panels, the lightweight fabric is designed to keep you cool in hot conditions, and the jersey has a fit similar to Rapha Classic pieces and three rear pockets plus a fourth zippered valuable pocket. Pricing is set at £100.00, though from the looks of things on the website, it might already be sold out.
If you can’t get your hands on the jersey, you might still be able to score one of the two Pantani books – Pantani was a God, and Pantani – 16 Pull Out Prints. Priced at £25 and £20 respectively, the two are coffee table worthy pieces that celebrate “The Saint and the Sinner.”
