In addition to their new GripLock upper headset cups covered in this post, Chris King had a new 142×12 thru axle option that’ll fit any current ISO-disc mount 135mm mountain bike hub they make. Of course, you can also get it as a full hub if you’re starting from scratch.

This gives King fans a complete range of axle options, as shown after the break, along with other goodies…

Name an axle configuration used on modern bikes and King almost assuredly has you covered.

For headsets, they have a new Inset 4 option for their straight 1.5″ headsets, letting you run things completely flush on frames made for it.

Not new, but fun to check out are Chris King’s singlespeed cogs. At first glance we thought he’d built up a road cassette, but no, each cog is available separately to get just the right gear ratio for your fixed gear or singlespeed bike.

This hub is one of their original disc hubs. The part that, on this hub, would mount the 6-bolt rotor is removable by undoing the bolts set inside within (closer to the axle, just barely visible), allowing you to attach any sort of brake rotor adapter.  There used to be more than just ISO and Centerlock options, so this let them make one hub until the mountain bike community got some standards together…and Shimano did whatever they wanted.

Their new GripLock conversion kit, which comes stock on new Inset models, can be purchased as an aftermarket part to fit any 1-1/8″ CK headset since 1991. Get the full scoop on why they finally adopted this standard just as Cane Creek’s patent expires in this post (it’s not why you think).
