Heads up, European gravel grinders. Velocio’s No Borders gravel team has open slots and is taking applications.

If you’ve got the chops, you could find yourself peddling alongside Velocio’s current trio of riders: Henning Bommel, Daniel Rytz, and Lisa Wörner.

If you want to apply, you should be “an ambitious rider aiming to connect to a network of dedicated and self-organized gravel riders,” per Velocio.

The application starts with the basics: Name, socials, brief description, and (most importantly) a Strava account. Of course, you need to be a European resident to apply.

“I think gravel racing can be much more individual than road racing. It’s definitely more people just trying to get to the finish line as fast as they can, challenging themselves instead of racing everyone else,” Daniel Rytz observes in the above video.

That being said, there are definite advantages to being on a race team. Companionship, motivation, and sweet, sweet swag. Velocio’s high-end bike apparel is known for careful design and premium — often natural — materials. I recently visited Velocio HQ in Vermont and was impressed with the passion and craftsmanship the team put into every piece of gear.

In fact, several Velocio pieces recently won plaudits from an independent group of German-based gear testers called the Design and Innovation Awards.

Velocio’s parent-company SRAM, along with Swiss bike maker BMC, also sponsors the team No Borders team. Space on the team is limited, so apply soon!

Gravel teams are so try-hard. Just stop making everything about strava and racing you soulless dullards.
