Knolly Bikes has its roots in MTB, but as gravel riding emerged their crew soon became interested enough to develop a gravel frame – and it was a hit. The original Cache was shown at Crankworx Whistler in 2018, and during this summer’s festival we got an early look at the updated Cache Titanium frame. Featuring key updates but not straying from the initial version’s well-liked ride qualities, the new Cache Titanium officially launches today.

Knolly Bikes says the titanium Cache “blends the soul of adventure riding with the precision of high-performance engineering”. It was designed to offer comfort, control and capability on varied terrain. It’s a versatile bike that can be pedalled into the backcountry, around gravel pathways, or taken to singletrack trails for some rowdy fun.

Knolly Cache Titanium – Frame Features:

The Cache Ti frame is designed in Canada, and will be built in small batches. The frames are constructed from custom shaped tubing and CNC machined components, ensuring excellent strength and a fine-tuned ride feel. The titanium tubing allows for efficient power transfer but maintains a comfortable ride for long days in the saddle.

One notable change is the new Cache Ti’s geometry has been adjusted to accommodate suspension forks. Of course adding a suspension fork enhances control on rough terrain, but even with a rigid fork the revised frame geometry increases the Cache’s stability. The head tube angle is now 70°, half a degree slacker than the original frame.

For those who don’t want front suspension, Knolly is developing a rigid carbon gravel fork that is geo-corrected for the Cache frame. Via a flip-chip, the fork can be run at two different AC lengths and provide a neutral or 0.5° steeper steering angle. The fork has a tapered steerer tube, runs a 100x12mm thru-axle and includes triple mounts for fenders/racks/water bottles. Knolly lists its weight at 480g including the axle.

Another update for the frame is increased tire and fender clearance. The Cache Titanium can now run up to 700x55c tires, and the incoming carbon fork will fit up to 60mm treads. The seat and chainstay bridges were also revised to provide more space for fenders.

In addition to it’s plentiful mounts for racks, fenders, cargo carriers or water bottles, the updated cache Titanium gets a new accessory mount on the top tube. One last finishing touch for the updated Cache Ti is the engraved head tube details.

Fitments:

Keeping riders’ options wide open, the updated Cache frame is compatible with all electronic or mechanical 1x or 2x drivetrains, whether designed for gravel or MTB. The front derailleur mount is a braze-on type. The Cache Ti now features SRAM UDH and Full Mount compatible dropouts, and the bikes come with a CNC machined derailleur hanger compatible with Shimano drivetrains.

The Cache frame accepts tapered forks and 31.6mm seatposts. It also features a 68mm BSA threaded BB shell, a 142x12mm rear axle, and a flat mount for rear brakes with 140 or 160mm rotors.

Geometry:

As the chart shows, the new Cache Titanium will be offered in seven frame sizes.
