Kogel has just added 4-piston brake pads for more mountain bikes, with models for Shimano and SRAM to go with the original 2-piston sizes they launched with.
Only offered with sintered compounds, which they say have a higher manufacturing quality than organics, there are to compounds giving you options for wet/aggressive or dry conditions.
They use a special metal backing plate that’s dipped in copper. Because the pads have a lot of copper in them, they say this gives the pad material better adhesion.
The backs are ceramic coated to improve heat dissipation. This creates a barrier that reflects the heat back into the pads slightly, which helps them get up to a good operating temperature more quickly and blocks it from transferring to the pistons and fluid.
They’re available now for $34.99 per wheel, with versions for Shimano XTR/XT/SLX/Deore and SRAM G2/Guide/Avid XO.
They also have new SRAM eTap RIVAL and Shimano 12sp Road Kolossos derailleur pulley upgrades. Like the others, they use a 12-tooth upper pulley and 19-tooth lower, both rolling on ceramic bearings. Retail price is $449.99 in black, red, and gold, or customize them for $489.99. Ti bolt kits are $25.
