Just like the sole, rubber & tread tech in Leatt’s more pricey flat pedal shoes that we just reviewed, these new MTB 2.0 Tomas Lemoine Signature shoes promise the same upgraded performance for a lot less. This is the perfect example that flat pedal mountain bike shoes don’t have to cost a ton of money to work well. Leatt pares the MTB 2.0 shoes back to the core essentials – and now offers them in a unique colorful special edition at no extra cost…
Leatt MTB 2.0 Tomas Lemoine Signature flat pedal shoes
Tomas Lemoine is a French slopestyle mountain biker who rides for Leatt. And while he’s one of the world’s best dirt jumping on the bike, he’s also “well known for being the tour’s most colorful contestant”. So to complement his zebra-striped pants and colorful kit, Leatt made him some bright alien-themed signature kicks, too.
Tech Breakdown
What’s new in Lemoine’s shoes is just a new look – embossed with a little alien head on the outside of each shoe. An extraterrestrial blue, pink, yellow, black & white pattern than bleeds from one color to the next and is unique to each shoe.
They even get a colorful matching anti-bacterial insole.
From a tech perspective, the shoes share the same semi-flexible sole construction as the Leatt MTB 3.0 Pro shoes that I reviewed last month. That means Leatt’s latest updated inverted-waffle WaffleGrip Pro tread with negative space & disconnected lugs for better grip on short- or long-pin pedals. And they get the same new soft RideGrip Pro rubber compound that is sticky and grippy in both wet & dry conditions.
The upper of the Leatt MTB 2.0 Tomas Lemoine signature shoes is the same synthetic leather with perforations across the toes and a padded mesh tongue for ventilation. It sticks with classic laces for simplicity and gets an elastic laces-keeper loop, but still gets a TPU reinforced toe guard and grippy sharkskin-style fabric in the heel to prevent heel lift whether pedaling or hike-a-biking.
Leatt MTB 2.0 Tomas Lemoine – Pricing & availability
The limited run of Leatt MTB 2.0 Tomas Lemoine signature edition flat pedal shoes sell for the same $99 / 119€ price as the classic solid colors – black rust yellow, pine green, lava red. The shoes are light at just 315g per shoe (size 42), more than 20% lighter than my 3.0 Pros, and come in whole & half size from EU 38.5-48.5.
The new Tomas Lemoine signature shoes are available now in stores and online.
