Liv is pushing its aero race platform forward again with the launch of the fourth-generation EnviLiv, a completely redesigned aero road bike developed as a full-system performance package. It’s a very similar design to the Giant Propel, but not identical. Rather than simply refining tube shapes, Liv’s engineers focused on reducing total system resistance — considering aerodynamics, rolling resistance, rotational losses, and rider interaction altogether.
The result is a bike that’s not only lighter and stiffer than the previous EnviLiv, but measurably faster in real-world conditions. According to Liv, the new EnviLiv Advanced SL delivers an 8.62-watt reduction in total system resistance, which could translate to nearly 1 minute and 55 seconds saved over 40km at race speed.

A Decade of EnviLiv Evolution
The EnviLiv story stretches back more than a decade. The original Envie, launched in 2013, was the first aero road bike built specifically around women’s geometry and rider positioning. It quickly found success under some of the sport’s biggest names, including Marianne Vos and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.
Later generations refined the formula with disc brakes, deeper aerodynamic integration, and a move into the top-tier Advanced SL carbon construction. The third generation brought improved stiffness-to-weight ratios and broader race capability, serving riders in road racing, criteriums, and Olympic-distance triathlon.
Now, the fourth-generation EnviLiv arrives with a full-system redesign aimed squarely at the speeds modern racing demands.

Whole-System Aero Engineering
The defining theme of the new EnviLiv is total-system engineering.
Instead of optimizing isolated components, Liv engineers tested the complete bike—including wheels, tires, cockpit, and rider — to measure total resistance under real riding conditions. Testing was conducted at 40km/h across yaw angles from −20° to +20°, capturing airflow patterns that mimic real-world race scenarios.

That approach led to measurable gains:
- 8.62W reduction in total resistance
- 120.93g lighter Advanced SL frameset
- 14.7% increase in frame pedaling stiffness
- 19% improvement in stiffness-to-weight ratio
- 25% increase in rear-end compliance
- ~15% more front-end compliance
Together, those numbers tell the story of a bike that’s both faster and more composed at speed.

Meet “Georgia”: A Wind Tunnel Test Built Around Women
One of the more interesting developments behind the new EnviLiv is Liv’s custom wind-tunnel mannequin called “Georgia.” Much like the Giant Grischa (the male equivalent), Georgia has helped the Liv designers build a faster bike without angering many test subjects in the process.
Who is Georgia? Named after Liv AlUla Jayco rider Georgia Baker, the mannequin was designed to better represent the body dimensions of women riders in aerodynamic testing. Unlike static mannequins often used in aero testing, Georgia features realistic torso shaping, adjustable neck and head positioning, articulating legs to simulate pedaling motion, and, above all, modular construction for repeatable rider positioning. Something a human could never replicate.

The system allows engineers to study airflow around a moving rider, which is where aerodynamic gains are often lost in traditional static testing setups.

New Vector Integrated Seatpost
One of the biggest structural changes to the EnviLiv platform is the introduction of the Vector Integrated Seatpost (ISP) on the Advanced SL models. It’s the first time Liv has used an integrated seat mast on the EnviLiv, and it plays a key role in both weight savings and ride quality.
The updated seatpost design eliminates traditional seatpost hardware and saves the bike 64 grams compared to standard posts. But it’s not all about weight; the ISP improves structural continuity between saddle and frame. Plus, it’s a full system, and that adds vertical compliance for a smoother ride feel.
Combined with lowered seatstays and a redesigned rear triangle, the system contributes to a 25% increase in rear-end compliance, helping smooth rough roads without sacrificing stiffness.

Advanced SL Composite Technology
The flagship frameset is built using Liv’s most advanced carbon construction, combining professional-grade raw carbon fiber with Carbon Nanotube (CNT) resin technology to improve strength and impact resistance. Continuous Fiber construction helps maintain uninterrupted carbon strands throughout key structural areas, while a one-piece molded front triangle increases overall stiffness and efficiency, creating a lighter, stronger platform designed for top-tier racing performance.
The updated frame construction uses single-bladder molding, reducing excess material and lowering weight without compromising structural integrity. This is the same construction used on the Propel SL and the Giant Anthem SL.
Are these smaller Giant Propel frames? No – Liv was very clear, these are not “scaled down” Propel frames. They have their own design team and all-new molds for the frames and layup. If you look at the frames side by side, there are more than a few of the same design features, but lots of subtle differences. Those differences make the bike handle better, feel more at one with the rider, and serve the rider.

OverDrive Aero Front End
Up front, the EnviLiv integrates Liv’s OverDrive Aero steering system. It uses a D-shaped steerer tube with aero spacers for internal cable routing. Plus a stiffened up steering interface for improved handling precision
Unlike some fully integrated systems, Liv designed the front end to remain relatively serviceable while still delivering a clean aerodynamic profile. The result is sharper steering response and greater confidence in high-speed situations such as crosswinds or sprint finishes.

Integrated Aero Cockpit
The new EnviLiv Advanced SL is paired with the Liv Contact SLR Aero integrated cockpit. The design is a one-piece carbon handlebar and stem with flat tops. The shape is slightly different from the SLR Aero from Giant, and so is the sizing. This cockpit was designed alongside the frame to maintain airflow consistency while keeping the rider stable in aggressive positions.
Wheels and Tires: Built as Part of the System
Liv also approached the wheel-and-tire setup as part of the aerodynamic system.
Top builds of the EnviLiv Advanced SL come with the CADEX Max 50 WheelSystem, a 50mm deep carbon wheel designed for balanced aerodynamic performance and control. The wheelset is paired with CADEX’s updated Aero 28c tire, completing the full aero system.
Lower-tier models use Giant’s SLR or Giant WheelSystems with similar 50mm rim depths and aerodynamic shaping.
Handling and Tire Clearance
Despite its aero focus, the EnviLiv was also designed to handle rougher real-world roads. Notable ride-quality updates include a 25% increase in rear compliance with ISP, a 15% increase in front compliance, and tire clearance up to 32mm.
Lowered seatstays help absorb vibration, while the fork and cockpit reduce high-frequency chatter through the hands.
