Known for all kinds of essential bicycle, moto, and even UTV bits, Muc-Off has some new Big Bore Valves. The new valves will be coming in three flavors, Lite, Hybrid, and Ludicrous, (no, not this Ludicrous).

Muc-Off says that these valves offer an increase in airflow by up to a whopping 264% over a standard Presta valve.

Using a revolutionary “straight through” coreless design is the reason for the 264% increase in airflow over a traditional Presta valve.

The Big Bore Valve’s airflow is controlled with a lever-operated ball valve, so there is no clogging. That means bead seating could be “turbocharged”, and you can dial in your tire pressures on the fly.

In order to offer the maximum airflow, the Ludricrous valves are designed around a schrader fit – both in the rim and the pump. the Hybrid is exactly as it sounds with a presta valve rim fit, and a schrader valve fit at the pump. The Lite version uses a presta valve fit at both the pump and the rim.

Revolutionary? This is an ad.

It’s a press release. Nothing wrong with it. It’s not like the writeup claims to be a review – it specifically falls under “News”.

Everything “Muc Off” does is an ad. Muc-Off should be taught in every Marketing Class across the earth. “How to create hype around products that don’t perform to expectations”

eg:

  • I have yet to see their tubeless sealant work on rides across all genres (road/gravel/mtb)
  • See previous BikeRumor comments regarding the performance of their lubes
  • Drivetrain cleaner doesn’t break down grease hardly at all
  • Their tubeless tape peels up from the edges about 3mo after application if you leave in hot environments. Thus, if you go to change tires or top of sealant when you pop the bead it peels back the tape due to whatever crappy adhesive they use.

There’s more than that as well. But hey, they have bright pink in their logo’s so it must be good.

Yes I sound like a hater here, but work in a shop that carries this stuff and you pretty much realize they are really good at marketing, not so much at performance.

I don’t about your customers but I’ve been using their products (Tubeless tape, sealant, and valves) with no problems for 2 years. Seems pretty good to me, maybe I’m lucky, who knows.

Their lubes are terrible. But I love their original valves(I’m not interested in these for anything but maybe my plus bike). I’ve also never had an issue with their tape and have gone +30,000 miles with it on a road bike.

  • I have yet to see their tubeless sealant not work, as someone that uses the sealant on 4 bikes and uses about 80l per year on customers it has been a non-issue.
  • Drivetrain cleaner removes grease like a charm, at least when you use muc-off oil for lubing, doesn’t matter which kind
  • Using muc-off tubeless tapes exclusively and dropped other brands because of the simplicity and durability.

I don’t want one but it really is revolutionary for people that do.

Just spend 1 min and clean your cores every tire swap. These high priced valves are getting ridiculous. Get yourself some from Hold Fast Cycling at half the price.

The advantage to this is seating a bead, and easier inflation for people that don’t weigh very much when the pressure ramps up

Definitely falls into the ludicrous category. Over priced valves that fix a non-problem.

Avoid Muc-Off like a plague.

I’m guessing these are chonky enough to throw off wheel balance

You beat me to it. Wonder how much heavier they are than regular valves.
Full disclosure – I use and like MucOff’s dry lube and wet lube.

I’m gonna go to HomeDepot to get plumbing supplies so I can make something better. Won’t be as light or pretty, but it’ll flow serious air!

No gold

From their website that seems to be $50 PER VALVE.

That’s properly absurd pricing.

It’s 50 bucks for the pair

I actually ordered some of these valves a few weeks ago, just before they arrived there was a product recall.

The tiny black screw come loose when you open the tap

Thanks for heads up. I just canned my order…

I will probably put these on all my bikes. I hate presta valves, and have been wishing for this exact product for a long time.

I’ll probably pick up the Ludicrous ones for my flat bar gravel bike since its already drilled for Schrader valves and Schrader tubeless valves are kind of a rarity.

Thanks to the comments section, I just canceled my order for two sets of these. The added weight and recall issue with the screw, F-it. I don’t need these.

I have to say I’ve tried 2 of Muc Off’s chain lubes and thought they were about the worst lubes I’ve ever tried. Total dirt magnets, and I degreased everything perfectly on a brand new drivetrain. I think the comments saying they’re great at marketing and shit at actual products is spot on.
