Muc-Off originally developed a waterless cleaner for their new e-bike line to prevent high pressure water from entering sensitive electronic connections. But after launching it, it would seem that owners of human powered bicycles were just as keen on a cleaner which didn’t require access to a hose. Now, Muc-Off is expanding their waterless cleaner to all bikes with their new High Performance Waterless Wash.
Just what is a waterless cleaner? It’s basically a simple spray that you apply to your bike, allow it to sit for a bit to penetrate surface contaminants, and then you wipe it clean with a dry microfiber cloth. Muc-Off states that it is best used for light cleaning in between major washes (with water), and not for use on heavy grit and mud as this will lead to surface scratching.
If you follow those instructions, the cleaner is safe for use on bicycles, motorcycles, cars, even RVs, and you’ll clean and polish in one step. The finish is non-sticky and the cleaner is powder free, leaving a shiny finish to help prevent dirt from your next adventure from sticking to your ride. The cleaner sells for $17.99 per 750ml bottle.
Cool, more disposable stuff to go straight into the dump.
Personally I prefer to wash my bike with cycling-specific water that I buy online from the U.K.
Pssh, I have 1×13 speed water.
what a wan@ and 18 bucks a bottle you gotta be shittin# me!
Ah, yes. Muc Off. The Specialized of maintainence products. Overexposed, overhyped, full of s..t and with a marketing department and budget seemingly limitless.
Why is it that when a product is marketed as cycling specific it can sold for 3x it’s real value?
It is all automated car wash detergents and waxes re packed from bulk. I have a 5 gallon pail of “pink” prewash from a carwash supplier that looks identical to Muc-off in a clear container, smells exactly the same, and cleans just as well if not better with a 3:1 water/soap mix. The 5 gallon pail was $11.85 and I am just re using it in a Muc-off bottle.
Love the video!!! By the way hope you don’t mind me asking, but what kind of microfiber cloth was used on the bike?
