NAHBS 2013: Bilenky’s Amazing Wonder Woman Track Bike, Plus Best Lugs Winner & More!

I’m diggin’ that Wonder Woman bike.

@Mallory Paige – NAHBS is about the tiniest details, and the fact that they’re tiny and still given attention is why they’re significant. Anything other than black electrical tape would demonstrate the same attention given elsewhere – a nice wrap of thread, the ol’ super glue trick that requires no tape whatsoever, unique ribbon, whatever. Although you could misinterpret my comment as bitching, that wasn’t my intent. My point was, if I were the builder, and I’d devoted myself to a bike like this, that black electrical tape doesn’t fit – it isn’t craftsmanship at the same level as the rest of the bike. And that’s surprising.

ABW, you know not of which you speak. The handlebars have what look like lights on the ends, which are black plastic. So it’s not without reason to finish the other end of the tape in black as well. Plus the brake lever is black. And if you want to get picky, the chainring and tires are black as well – which easily could have been a different color. There is a thread of black on the bike, black finishing tape works just fine.

@Scott – do I need to be a builder to know how to wrap bars?

Can’t seem to find a price range on these bikes. Does anyone have a website address where I could get a general idea of what a regular one person bike would cost?
