Looking for one cycling shoe for all your offroad riding? The new Bontrager Foray aims to be the best shoe for gravel, cyclocross and mountain biking thanks to abundant tread, toe protection, and a stiff-yet-walkable sole.

With a $159.99 MSRP and four understated colors, it hits a nice mid point for price and features in a shoe that works for a lot of things. Here’s the details…

Compared to racier models, the Foray has a full-length Tachyon rubber outsole with big lugs. Micro texture and open spaces should help them grip whatever you’re walking on (or up). Removable nylon toe spikes add a bit more bite for wetter conditions.

The upper is full synthetic with a forefoot Velcro closure and BOA L6 dial to cinch up the rest. Perforations allow heat to escape off the sides and top.

The raised GnarGuard rubberized coating does more than cap the toes, running down the sides about half way back.

Bontrager’s InForm Race last has proven comfortable on other shoes we’ve tested, leaving plenty of room for your toes to adjust and spread on longer rides, but maintain a snug capture in the heel for spirited pedaling.

It gets a nylon composite sole with a rated stiffness of 6 out of 14, so they should be easy to walk in without tiring your feet out on longer, harder rides. We just received a set for testing, stay tuned to see how that pans out.

Available colors are Black, Royal Blue, olive gray/radioactive orange, and Quicksilver/Black. Available now in sizes ranging from US Mens 3.5-14 (women’s 5-16, EU36-48).

Bontrager Evoke MTB

Along with the Foray, the Bontrager Evoke has been redesigned to ditch the velcro in favor of a single BOA dial. The BOA L6 dial allows for micro-adjustments while riding, and combines with a roomier inForm Race last for a comfortable fit. Details include a perforated upper with a GnarGuard rubberized coating on the toe and heel, and a Tachyon rubber sole for plenty of grip off the bike.

Even with the addition of the BOA, the Evoke is priced at just $119.99.

Bontrager Cadence Spin Bike Shoe

Bontrager’s new shoes aren’t only confined to the mountain bike/offroad space. For those that want a shoe for indoor riding, the all new Cadence Spin bike Shoe could fit the bill. Designed with a balance of function and fashion, the SPD compatible shoe uses a standard two bolt cleat to allow for a walkable shoe that still provides a solid connection to the pedals. If you’re tired of slipping on hardwood floors in your Peloton Shoes, swap out the pedals and throw on a pair of spin bike shoes like these that are closer to your sneakers.

Built with a slip-on mesh upper and a single BOA L6 dial, the shoes add extra comfort with an EVA foam midsole. You can pick up a pair of Cadence shoes for $134.99.
