The new Industry Nine Grade300 downhill mountain bike wheels get stronger, wider and better looking with all new rims. The folks in Asheville rolled a new alloy rim with a big 30mm internal width, then addressed other design features to improve overall performance. The bead channel is narrower to make tubeless setup easier, but the beat seat is wider to improve performance when using a tubeless tire. The sidewall is tapered and reinforced, and material is added to the lower walls, all to increase the dent and ding resistance, a good thing when you're banging the bike down the mountain…
Industry Nine team rider Reece Wallace puts the wheels through their paces in the video above.
FEA analysis led them to a stronger design without adding much weight, putting the complete wheelset at 1880g for 27.5" and 2000g for 29er. They're built with I9's Torch hubs and thicker Grade spokes, which means you can get them in any of their 11 anodized colors. Retail starts at $1,255.
