Living up to their “technically unKonventional” ways, Australian cycling brand, Knog, just introduced a new version of the Oi Bell. Continuing to push the boundaries in bike safety and security, Knog has added the Oi Prima Bell to the popular Oi bell family.

The bell checks both the aesthetic and performance boxes after many iterations and prototyping. The Oi Prima combines a sleek and stealthy form with a refined tone.

When the hammer strikes the Oi Prima, a “beautiful tone” is emitted, so it’s likely to be well-received when used on multi-use trail systems. The “unmistakable” tone that comes from the Oi Prima is a result of Knog’s Wavetek hammer technology.

Wait, what’s Wavetek hammer technology?

The new Oi Prima was completely reconstructed with Knog’s Wavetek hammer technology. This new hammer tech is why the Oi Prima has a unique sound. This new tech also “ensures a loud and consistent ring tone even after thousands of strikes”.

How it works: The bell part of the Oi Prima, when struck, vibrates in a wave-type motion. This motion is said to create a longer-lasting, louder, crisper, and clearer tone. And the tone rings at a claimed 80+ decibels.

Sleek & Seamless Integration

The Oi Prima Bike Bell is designed to pretty much disappear when mounted on your bike. It comes in two sizes, and you can choose from Anthracite and Primer Grey colors. It even comes with integrated cable management, helping to discreetly route handlebar cables. Installation is said to be “quick and easy”, as it simply slips over the bar and uses only a hex wrench to tighten it down.

Most bike bells are like background noise—forgettable. The Oi Prima is the opposite,” said Hugo Davidson, Knog’s CEO. “It’s got personality, a fantastic tone, and looks good doing it. The Oi Prima is a testament to our commitment to creating products that enhance the riding experience while ensuring safety and style.

Had a few different models of them because they look great. But (please don’t be mad at me) in the bell department they all under performed. Wouldn’t get another one unless they are free.

You are right. They are a wimpy sounding bell and not loud at all. To my surprise, people seem to hear them. I haven’t had anyone but someone with earbuds not hear my Oi bells over the past few years.
