Kuat’s new NV hitch-mount bike rack is now shipping. The NV claims to be the lightest weight platform rack with a repair clamp, and if it’s on par with their other aluminum racks, it should be comparatively light.
It’s available for both 2″ and 1.25″ hitch receivers and holds two bikes with wheel sizes from 20″ to 29″ and up to 60 lbs each, and an additional two-bike add on is available, giving the NV a max capacity of four bicycles. The telescoping repair stand extends from the main body when the rack is folded up (pic after the break), making trailhead and race day repairs and tweaks a breeze.

The rack’s frame is heat-treated aluminum and has a built-in cable lock. The bikes are secured with a front-wheel clamp bar and rear wheel strap, similar to most platform racks on the market. It offers a pretty spacious 13″ between bikes.
The Kuat NV has an easy to use lever release that lets the rack fold down for access to a lift gate even with bikes loaded, and makes folding it up easy, too.
The repair stand slides out of the main frame and swivels out to hold your bike away from the rack. The NV slides into the hitch and secures with a cam that you tighten with a knob for tool free installation.
MSRP is $495.
