Nicole Cooke (Great Britain), the first Welsh athlete to win Gold in 36 years, won the women’s road race by a bike’s length after riding for 3:32:24 in rainy, nasty conditions.  Emma Johansson (Sweden) took Silver and Tatiana Gudzero (Italy) took Bronze.  Cooke’s victory gives Great Britain its 200th Gold Medal in the modern Olympics.
