Old Man Mountain racks claim to make the most versatile racks available. And their new Elkhorn rack looks to be keeping that reputation alive. So, here’s the scoop…
The Elkhorn comes in two sizes. The short size is compatible with clearance for 27.5 x 3″ and 700 x 38mm setups. And the tall size can clear 29 x 3.25″ tires. The 6061 aluminum rack is lightweight at 660 grams and can carry a load of 25lbs. It also has three adventure mounts on each strut. The height from the mounting point to the deck is 390mm on the short and 430mm on the tall.
The Elkhorn is a great-looking minimalistic rack. This slim, utilitarian rack can be mounted on any bike in your quiv; be it front suspension, full suspension, no suspension, townie, cross bike, gravel bike, or even your road bike.
The rack comes standard with the ability to mount directly to the eyelets on your bike. But, there are optional “fit kits” available for mounting with a Quick Release or thru axle. The same “fit kits” can actually be used on all of your bikes to help make swapping the Elkhorn from bike to bike a super easy snap-a-roo.
You can mount the Elkhorn on the front or the rear of your steed, which is super handy. The compact sturdy deck measures out at 3.9″ x 10.5″ and includes slots to strap your gear in place. Plus, it has holes to mount a light.
It comes in black or black.
The Elkhorn is made in Taiwan and is backed by a lifetime warranty…that’s awesome.
If you’d like to own this rack you’ll have to wait until the summer of 2022 (so, basically…right around the corner). But, in the meantime, you can just quickly go here to add yourself to the “notify-me-when-it’s-in-stock” mailing list so you’re notified when it’s, you know…in stock. 🙂
