I know, it sounds like a Polish* joke we told in grade school when the term “politically correct” wasn’t even in our vocabulary.  And we cheated on vocabulary anyway (thanks Olivia!).
21 Lights has the Owleye solar powered bike light that stores energy during the day (or under indoor lights, but it takes longer to recharge), then lights your way after dark.  It operates in both constant and flash modes, has three LED bulbs, comes with a handlebar mount and can be used independently as a flashlight.  They also make a tail light version with red lights.
* Seriously?  If you don’t know what joke I’m talking about, read “more“.  Oh, and you’ll also get to see more pics of the Owleye and the available color options, pricing, etc.
The Owleye attaches to the handlebar mount with a quick release tab, making it simple and quick to take it with you or pop it off to use as a flashlight.  The light is small enough to stick in your pocket if you’re just running quick errands and don’t want to worry about someone taking it…like a Polish person that never got over the playground teasing.
They use only solar power to recharge, so you’ll never have to put another battery in them.  They’re weather resistant and they only weigh 80g. They recharge in 2 to 6 hours, with runtimes ranging from 3 to 8 hours (constant) depending on how long you give them to charge.  In flash mode, they’ll run for 6 to 16 hours.
It comes in Green, Silver, Orange and Black, and the tail light version is red (below).  The tail light uses a single LED bulb and has a 10+ hour run time in constant or 20 hours in flash mode.
The Owleye lights retail for $24.95, or get the set with front and rear for $34.95, plus shipping.
Ok, now for the joke:
YOU: Did you hear about the new Polish invention?
SUCKER: No.
YOU: It’s a solar powered flashlight.
ALL: Guffaw, guffaw.
(EDITOR: I kid, of course. We love everybody here at Bikerumor…if you take offense at this, leave a comment and we’ll consider approving it.  And I know this is childish humor.)
