Parcours has given their Alta carbon gravel wheels a new 650B option, building in more all-road & off-road versatility with a new wider hookless rim. Based off the same 35mm deep aero profile of their 700c Alta gravel wheels, downsizing to this new Parcours Alta 650b wheelset is meant to open up the fast adventure capabilities of your gravel bike with less weight, bigger tires, extra comfort, and more grip over any terrain…
Parcours Alta 650b, wide aero carbon gravel bike wheels
This spring we had a look at UK-based Parcours and their decently-priced aero carbon road wheels. There’s a dozen more similarly spec’d wheels in their line-up, and now this new Alta 650b takes their gravel options to the next level.
Parcours sees the new Alta 650b wheels as a more versatile “one wheel” setup for your gravel bike – mixing light weight, aerodynamics & more off-road performance.
Tech details
Dropping down to smaller diameter 650b wheels & lower pressure tires meant the new blunt-nosed 35mm deep carbon rim could go for a hookless tubeless profile, now with a 25mm internal width. Fit them with narrow 40-47mm Road Plus tires for speed, of 27.5×2″ knobby tires for more off-road action.
Parcours also says that lets them make the new Alta 650b rim even lighter, without sacrificing strength. At a claimed 1360g (650g front, 755g rear), the new wheels are said to be strong & stiff, laced 2x with 24 Sapim CX-Ray spokes to alloy centerlock hubs for all sorts of “all-road” riding. The wheels come standard with 12mm thru-axles & Shimano freehubs, but XDR & Campy bodies are also available, as are other axle adapters.
