Handmade frame manufacturer Pine Cycles just introduced the FRST, or Full Rigid Single Track. The Seattle-based company has built the FRST with versatility in mind — it can be a traditional gravel bike, or it can handle your next bikepacking trip, or tackle some grueling backcountry miles.

Pine’s FRST inspires confidence through progressive geometry, a capable platform, and the ability to run wider tires when needed. And, the idea all started with a fork.

Performance Meets Adaptability

When Kevin McClelland, Pine Cycles’ Founder, set out to create the FRST, he had in mind a bike that could tackle nearly everything thrown at it. However, despite pushing the boundaries of tire sizes, modern gravel bikes were still limited. Many gravel tires, while efficient, may not handle the robust nature of many backcountry and bikepacking singletracks. Fortunately, McClelland had a trick up his sleeve.

This trick came in the form of the ENVE Adventure Fork, which McClelland had a hand in during his time as ENVE’s Framebuilder Sales Manager. The flip-chip integrated Adventure Fork allows for adjustability on the fork’s rake as well as the ability to change the axle-to-crown distance, freeing space for a 58mm, or 2.3-inch tire.

Depending on the flip-chip position, a more traditional gravel tire and wheel could be used if so desired. However, if the rider wishes for the support of a larger and more robust tire, they can do so.

This versatility opened doors when it came to Pine Cycles FRST and expanded upon what gravel riding once was. The bike that is fast and efficient, winning gravel races can be the same bike ridden on backcountry adventures and bikepacking expeditions, where wider tires handle the terrain better.

The result is a modern, capable, and efficient gravel bike that can tackle much more than gravel roads — the Pine Cycles FRST. Pine uses a blend of Columbus Spirit, Life, and Zona tubing to construct a frame with a traditional aesthetic and elegant, clean lines. The large front triangle holds three water bottles for race day, or accommodates large frame bags for multiday trips.
