Pairing with multi-time world triathlon champion Javier Gomez Noya, Polar has created a special signature edition package of their flagship GPS watch geared towards the multi-sport athlete. The Gomez Noya special edition watch comes with a more stealthy all-black bezel and either a black wristband of a vibrant red version. Plus the kit adds everything you need for your own swim, bike, run adventure. In addition to the aesthetic update, the special edition watches bring with them updated functionality, including new 3rd-party GPX track integration, expanded route and explore functions, and more customization with its built-in performance analytics. The new V800 also will now work with a new running training program that Polar also announced today. Check out the details on the signature edition V800 & Running Program after the jump…
Polar’s top GPS watch now offers better route and explore functions, and can handle even longer (multi-day) training sessions with a new GPS low-power mode. Customization also seems to be a key function of the watch, as it adds more functions and integration through firmware updates. We already showed you the integration of the V800 with GoPro controls a couple of weeks ago, and swim tracking and Android alerts back in the fall, but the newest V800 update adds even more.
New and carry over V800 users will see big improvements to Polar Flow’s web service. A new Route and Explore function lets you search for new routes based on your location, activity discipline, distance, and activity duration. Plus, you can now search by name to find out where other Flow riders frequent. Updated analysis functions give the ability to better tailor trainings activities to your needs. With updated third-party integration, you can now import GPX tracks into Flow to follow them on the V800.
The Javier Gomez Noya signature edition V800 is available as a bundle, including the V800, a universal watch handlebar mount, and a Bluetooth Smart cadence sensor. The new black-on-black style of the signature edition V800 is available today for $470/450€, with the red band version coming out in June.
Polar’s new Running Program is a personalized and adaptive training tool through Polar Flow. Users key in their current fitness levels, a target running goal and the event’s date. Polar then will build a personalized training program for that goal. Then just upload those plans to your wrist on the V800, and follow along for on the go coaching. The program is adaptive too, so it will adjust your workouts as you improve (or stagnate.) Together with the on-watch training, Polar added online exercise videos focusing on strength, core, and mobility training to help hit your target.
