Reading comment sections on our site can be entertaining. But, when you do, you’ll see a common thread. Not everyone shares the same opinion when it comes to geeking out on bike stuff. But, there is one opinion that I’m pretty sure we would all share equally. And, that is that bike thieves suck. To help defeat said losers (I’m talkin’ about the bike thieves, kids), Portland Design Works has introduced its new tracker device holder. Introducing the Tracker Keeper.

The Tracker Keeper is a small envelope that is designed to hide an AirTag, or similarly sized tracker device. It is fastened under the saddle of your bicycle. I know there are a few clever items out there that can do this type of stealthy tracker hiding. But this one is only $15.

The Tracker Keeper is made from waterproof, 100% recycled EcoPak ballistic fabric. The material is scraps that are left over from making their Loot Bag. This is an inexpensive way to keep your bike outta the hands of nasty bike thieves. F*%CK those guys.

Looking at the design, we can’t help but think that you will need to make this as inconspicuous as possible. With an easy-to-open clasp, if the would-be thieves notice it, it seems like it would be easy for them to just remove it from the bike and toss it in the bushes. But the design may also allow you to place it somewhere else on the bike that is better hidden, so get creative.

I’m guessing making this incognito isn’t going to work well if you run a saddle with some sort of relief cutout. Which is a shame as that instantly rules out my SMPs.

Just get a real airtag holder that goes underneith your bottle cage or connected to your saddle… Nano Worx has them http://www.nanoworx.shop

Wouldn’t an experienced bike thief know to look for this? It seems like it could be removed very quickly/easily.

My phone tells me when an air tag is following me. So it seems pretty pointless.

So are they just hoping bike thieves don’t see it and take it off? And also hoping the hook and loop strap doesn’t break? Neat idea, poor execution. I’d rather have an air tag that can fit inside the frame.

Seems like there’s a market for one of these gizmos that can be dropped down into a seat tube. Otherwise any thief is gonna yank ’em off and toss ’em,

They exist for motorbikes but have to be wired in, and they drain the battery within a month or so on smaller bikes like my Yamaha 125

I had a bike stolen last year. I found it listed on Ebay the next day minus all bags and attachments. They even stripped the Stages power meter electronics off the crank arm. I’m skeptical that something plainly visible and easily removed like this provides anything more than but a false sense of security.
