Redline Conquest Disc brake alloy cyclocross bike

Redline’s Conquest Disc is a disc brake specific 6061 alloy framed version of the Conquest and is new for 2013. Price is $1,600 and includes a mix of FSA and Shimano Tiagra 10-speed with compact gearing, a lower BB than last year -it’s now the same as their carbon race bikes- and it gets the more conventional 135mm rear spacing. It has a carbon fork with alloy steerer and is really designed as more of an adventure commuter bike. It uses the new Alex CDX26 rims that are designed specifically for disc cyclocross bikes.

New Conquest Pro and Team gets an updated carbon over frame that’ll work with both cantilevers and discs. The complete bike will be sold with Cantilevers, but they sell a branded open mold disc brake fork as an aftermarket upgrade.

New frame moves to PFBB30, which gives them more room to put the cables inside the frame. Housing will run continuously to the rear derailleur with a small clip to keep it from bouncing around.

They also made the dropouts full carbon with continous construction between the stays. Frame weight drops from about 1200g to about 1120g.

Rear hub width remains 130mm on this model, and Redline’s reps say this keeps the chain line better. They stock 130mm wide disc hubs from Novatec and White Industries in house and can build up disc wheels with that spacing to just about any rim.

This isn’t the final built kit spec, it’s just a test bike.

Redline Monobelt 29er seatstay frame break

Monobelt 29er hardtail is a new belt drive singlespeed mountain bike. Based off their Monocog but with a lugged split seatstay that uses a separate T-shaped piece that pulls out to leave a gap, meaning you don’t have to spread the frame to let the belt in. Chromoly frame, the bike comes with a Reba fork, Ritchey cockpit with WTB saddle, Shimano brake and FSA cranks. Retail is $1799, available in late May. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a photo of the complete bike.

Ghost Bikes, please change your name. A ghost bike is a bike painted white and left in memorium of someone who died on a bike. Not a good look.

Ghost brand bicycles started in 1993, while the first white ghost bike didn’t appear until 2003.

In Australia, a “Ghostie” is where you jump off the back of your bike at speed and let it continue on without you. Not sure why I thought it important to tell you this. Certainly not something I’m willing to demonstrate with my current bikes…
