It’s happened to us all. You bump into a buddy at the coffee shop, get to chatting, and they mention it. “Hey, we missed you on the last group ride!”

If only you’d known about it. Life is busy, and we don’t always make it to the local bike shop to check the bulletin board for events and rides (wait, is that too outdated?). Or, more likely, maybe we just don’t always see the social media post letting us know (that sounds more 2026).

The reality is, there are often just too many social media platforms to follow and keep track of. Fortunately, more apps and websites are rolling out (pun intended), helping local riders connect more easily

Introducing Roll, a web platform helping cyclists easily discover rides, races, and events. Roll allows users to filter by location to see all cycling happenings in their area.

You can filter by bike type, place, and dates. Roll allows you to set up a profile, connect to your current socials, and share the rides and events you plan to participate in. Event organizers can also submit events to share on the platform.

The Roll webpage also allows you to follow other Roll users, and for them to follow you. I set up a profile and, within a day or so, received my first “follower.” Of course, I experienced the immediate dopamine release we all seek from social media, naturally prompting me to dive deeper into the cycling platform.

Then, I saw that the new follower I acquired, “Jake,” is the creator of Roll. So, it was more like a MySpace situation with Tom (I’ve dated myself…and so have you if you catch that reference).

But a follower is a follower.

Regardless, Roll seems like a solid platform for keeping up with cycling events in your area. Best of all, it is free. Head to roll.ooo to sign up now.
