When they’re not making gorgeous road bikes, Scapin has been known to put some some beautiful mountain bikes as well which have either been 26″ or 29″, until now. Straight off the press release, Scapin firmly believes in the new 27.5” trend: they believe in it because it’s the best compromise between the 26” and the 29”. So, with that they are introducing the new Hektor 27.5″ hardtail carbon mountain bike. In the battle of the new wheel size naming rights, 27.5″ seems to be winning out over 27 ad 650b. Believing that it offers geometries suited for all riders, and the best “flow” of the wheel, Scapin’s Hektor will sit between the 26″ Murdok and 29″ Oraklo carbon hard tails.
Built with a monocoque carbon frame from Toray T700 UD carbon, frame weight is a claimed 1120g. The frame will feature a BB92 press fit bottom bracket along with a tapered head tube, 31.6 seatpost (unlike the seat mast on the Murdok), post mount disc tabs in the rear triangle, and internal shift cabling with external brake routing. Hektor will be offered in 4 sizes, 3 colors and 6 different build options.
