Scott just released a few images of its forthcoming Gambler downhill mountain bike, set to be raced this weekend’s World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa under Brendan Fairclough. Details are scant, but the gist is this: It’s an alloy, single pivot bike with multiple linkages driving a large coil-over shock.

UPDATED: Another photo added at bottom – different angle on the suspension linkage.

Keen eyes might notice some rather new looking Saint brakes installed (click to make it big) with IceTech features like finned brake pads. Another item worth noticing is that Fox dropper seatpost, its placement hinting that it’s finally ready to make a real world debut. More pics after the break…

Quite the floating linkage – should be interesting to see in action.

Is that a Cane Creek rear shock? Or a Cane Creek spring on a Fox shock?

It’s a cane creek titanium spring on a fox shock.

It just looks unnecessarily complicated for a single pivot design.

Sir, that Astrix would probably ride better since it has a pulley wheel and wouldn’t have the feedback of the Scott. Boom Roasted. I think I’ve sketched better looking suspension systems on napkins. Certainly this Scott one will haunt my dreams.

Looks like they inverted the dog links that are at the heart of most motocross bikes, those seem to work just fine …
