Scribe has made a name for itself by delivering fast, well-priced boutique wheels. Now, heading into 2026, the UK-based brand is swinging even harder with the launch of its all-new Ultra Élan and Ultra CORE wheel ranges. What makes the Ultra Élan and Ultra CORE range different? They are lighter, wider, and (according to Scribe) among the most aerodynamic road wheels you can race under UCI rules.

Scribe Ultra Range -What is it?

At the center of the update is Scribe’s new OSL8 carbon spoke (say it with me…“oscillate“). It’s a wild-looking piece of carbon wizardry developed to balance stiffness, compliance, and aero efficiency in one very unconventional shape.

The new spoke makes its debut on the Ultra Élan wheels. The range includes the Élan Ultra 5 (50mm, 1,149g) and Élan Ultra 6 (65mm, 1,289g).

Scribe Ultra Ultra-Graph

Scribe says the OSL8 wasn’t just designed to look cool. After extensive CFD development and rapid prototyping, the spoke was validated in the Silverstone wind tunnel. The testing showed measurable watt savings compared to a flat 5mm carbon spoke. Scribe claims reductions of 0.5W at 0° and 5° yaw, 0.4W at 10°, and 0.2W at 15° (at 45km/h), making the OSL8 their fastest bladed spoke to date.

Backing up the spokes are newly refined hubs finished in a muted gunmetal gray. The updated colorway paired with Scribe’s signature green freehub body looks awesome imo.

The rims themselves follow modern-ish road thinking. The design features an internal width of 24mm and an external rim width of 30 mm, with a hooked profile suitable for 28–30mm tires.

Ultra CORE

Ultra CORE range comes in the same 50mm and 65mm depths as Ultra Élan. However, they swap out the OSL8 carbon spokes for Italian-made Alpina aero-steel spokes. These wheels trade a bit of weight for durability and cost savings. Scribe claims that the Ultra CORE 6 (65mm) is the fastest UCI-legal wheelset currently available.

That’s a big statement and backed by the same wind-tunnel-tested rim profile as the Élan models.

Why doesn’t Scribe show the profile of the wavy aero spoke? Their pictures don’t really explain what they are (at least for me).

The name and pictures of the spoke doesn’t give you enough context to put that together?

No, it doesn’t – a picture is worth a thousand words. The waviness is the defining feature of the spoke, so why don’t they show it?

Wow they’re expensive. They’re no longer the best value for money. What a shame.

Having a cool-colored freehub body is the equivalent of replacing the SRAM DUB chainring mounting bolts with anodized titanium…

Note that the OSL8 spokes still seem to be less aero than the steel spokes (from their two graphs) but 5g/spoke lighter.
