So hot off the presses (out of the jig?) that it hasn’t even earned its final name yet, the new titanium mountain bike from Jerónimo Cycles is ready to take on the aggressive singletrack and killer descending that define its native Tenerife. Based on the volcanic island in the Canaries, Jerónimo had been building more road and XC bikes, but this new Iberian-made ti bike is built to handle the technical, abrasive, and extremely rocky singletrack  that characterize its island birthplace. Take a closer look and see how affordable it is after the jump…

The new Jerónimo Ti MTB trail bike is built around a 27.5+ wheelset, which builder Pedro Jerónimo sees as the way forward for technical trail riding. Combining the forgiving ride of titanium with the wider footprint and cush of the plus-sized tires give the bike the confidence and stability to tackle the hardest trails, while still keeping weight low and limiting the need for the complication of rear suspension. The frame uses a custom-made chainstay yoke, built out of shaped ti plate to get clearance for the wide tire. It uses a hooded thru-axle set of dropouts, a tapered headtube, and fully external routing.

Paired with a 150mm of Rock Shox Yari front suspension, the bike can handle singletrack all over the world, but feel at home on the steep climbs and technical descents on the island of Tenerife.

Jerónimo built this particular bike up with a bar, stem, and post from Thomson, whom they have just started working with. Those fat tires are 27.5 x 3.0″ Schwalbe Rocket Rons with the light and durable Evolution LiteSkin casing to stand up to the volcanic rocks.

Like all of their bikes, this new 27.5+ frame can be ordered with custom geometry, and pretty limitless setup options. The 27.5+ trail frame pricing starts at 1420€, with complete bike builds from 3750€.

Wow, sweet! This checks a lot of boxes, one of them being FULLY EXTERNAL ROUTING. The price is right, too. I dig it.

Really interesting! Does it have a press fit or threaded bottom bracket? I truly hope that it has threaded bb. Very interesting indeed…

I hope it has threaded headset cups too. I can’t handle pressing anything in. But I love screwing!
