Ryder Cycling is best known for their innovative Slug Plug, a tiny, portable tire repair tool. That product line is now expanding with more ways to repair on-the-go, with the new Slyder and Nutcracker. The Slyder is a bottle-cage-mounted accessory holder that can carry a 16 oz CO2 cartridge and the Slug Plug tool, while the Nutcracker combines a tubeless valve core and nut tool that doubles as a disc brake pad spreader.
The Nutcracker is a small multi-tool to assist with your tubeless woes in the event of a flat and wheel removal. First, the tool acts as both a rim valve nut remover and valve core remover, with storage for a spare valve core.
The other end of the tool is a disc pad spreader, in case you accidentally squeeze the brake lever during your wheel change. The inside of the tool is made of stainless steel, for a rigid and durable design.
The Slug Plug is a clever little tool, using bike-sized slugs to repair your tubeless tires (and a protective safety cap to keep things clean). The problem was – how do you carry it? Until now, you could stash it in a bag or tape it to your frame, but now there’s a cleaner solution, the Slyder:
With a 2-bolt mounting system that hides underneath your bottle cage, the Slyder can carry one 16 ounce CO2 and one Slug Plug kit (or two CO2 cartridges). It also includes a protective CO2 sleeve, to keep your fingers safe from freezing cartridges.
The Slug Plug itself remains unchanged, using a smaller plug size than what you’d find on an automotive tire repair kit. The Slug Plug, Slyder, and Nutcracker are available now from Ryder Cycling dealers. The Slug Plug should be around $10 and have much wider availability as their US distribution gets finalized this June or July, but you can find global availability and pricing on their website in the meantime.
