Cratoni prototype sea breeze road bike helmets

We recently found out Cratoni was coming back to North America and were excited about their lightweight lineup.

Now, we’re even more excited after seeing the helmets at Sea Otter…particularly the prototype C-Breeze road bike helmet shown above. This one came in at a claimed 197g and is a CE approved model. Beyond the weight, we’re digging the massive vents and round, smooth profile. Notice there’s no fins or wings protruding off the back? That arguably makes it safer overall, and possibly a bit more aero (though that’s not a claim they’re making).

While that one is a short ways off, the rest of the line should be hitting our shores very soon. And they’re shown and weighed after the break…

Weights for those three are 209g (Bullet), 233g (Bolt) and 327g (Blaze). All of the helmets weighed were CE models, expect about 10-15g gain for CPSC models.

Some models have a bug net available that replaces the padding. Also, the smaller retention dial shown here is likely to replace the larger dials over time.

Comments on a road helmet (probably a Terron) bought from their official dealer in India:

Pros – fairly light; better than average fit; did not interfere with peripheral vision; came with a micro-fiber type carry bag and several replacement (thicker) pads. The original pads dried faster than the replacements.

Cons – dial adjuster at the back wouldn’t loosen. Replaced promptly by the dealer. The replacement stopped working as well. Guess it was a bad design/ material fault as they’ve since changed the material of the dial.
