Need some new kicks that also need to perform on the bike? Specialized has you covered with two additions to their growing line of footwear. Designed for flat pedals, Specialized wants you to fear not, and SlipNot with their custom rubber outsoles for “unmatched traction, grip, and pedal feel.”

2FO Method

Specialized Method 2FO Roost flat pedal shoe

Feeling decidedly more like a skate shoe than past 2FO models, the new Method features a canvas upper with a low-profile fit. While certainly designed to be stylish and casual, the shoe features hidden tech to keep you glued to the pedals. After spinning around in these myself, it’s clear that these shoes prioritize pedal feel more than other 2FO models. They still feature an internal heel counter for support, but the cup sole, low profile fit, and flexible sole construction gives them excellent feedback.

2FO Roost Synthetic

Along with the 2FO Method, the 2FO Roost gets a slight update. We need to track down more info on this shoe as it was a surprise addition to the press kit on the Method, and will update when we have it.

I suggest not paying a premium for “bike specific” shoes. I suggest not paying a premium for most “bike specific” things. But if you do, try not to pay full retail. I ride in Merrell trail running shoes. I also have a pair of 510 waterproof shoes that I got for $50 on sale because there are green and most people apparently didn’t like the green. Embrace ugly colors as well and you will find good deals

These shoes are cheap by even regular shoe standards. I’m not sure what paint you’re huffing but you don’t seem to have a very firm grasp on the value of the 2023 dollar. Or what a “premium” is.

“embrace ugly colors” Why? nobody is here looking for tips on how to be a cheapskate. There’s being frugal, and then there’s limiting yourself on how much better of an experience you’d have if you weren’t such a tightwad.
