When the Roam 50 debuted in January, it became the carbon option for 29ers since the existing 60 was only for 27.5″ wheels. But with so many brands making bigger, faster and more aggressive twenty niners for everything from all-mountain to downhill, the need was there.

The all-new SRAM Roam 60 29″ mountain bike wheels get a purpose built design, with a higher spoke count and lacing pattern, new hub shells and a tough carbon rim. Like the 50s, they’re reasonably priced for the feature set…

The rims are hookless and tubeless ready. Compared to the more XC-oriented Rise wheels, these are for Trail and Enduro use.

The new hub shells revise the spoke flanges, which looks like it’s pushing them just a bit further out and a bit taller to improve bracing angle. Inside is their Double Time system, which pairs four offset pawls to provide 56 points of engagement (6.9º rotation).

  • 28 spokes
  • 4-cross straight pull spokes w/ brass nipples
  • 30mm internal width
  • 835g front
  • 955g rear
  • 1,790g set
  • XD Driver and SRAM/Shimano 11-speed freehub body options
  • Front: QR (end caps), 15×100 or Boost 15×110, available with Torque Caps
  • Rear: QR and 12×135 (end caps), 12×142 or Boost 12×148
  • Price: $900 front / $1000 rear (€919/€1021 – £778/£866)
