Compared to the original model, the updated SRM X-Power pedals have a dramatically larger body and beefier retention mech. Still aimed at XC mountain bikers, they should also appeal to gravel riders looking for an easy way to bring a power meter along on any bike.
The larger platform provides more support under foot, providing a larger contact area for your shoe’s tread blocks to rest on.
The retention clips are provided by Look and are SPD compatible. Just based on appearances, they look far stronger and stiffer than before and should provide secure (and adjustable) engagement.
The spindles are an upgraded steel material and now come with a black coating to prevent rust or corrosion. Weather sealing keeps three-bearing internals and electronics clean and dry.
A magnetic attachment on the back of the spindle holds a charging cable. They claim 30 hours of run time per charge, but the pedals will draw down up to 5% of their power per day in standby mode.
They can be used as singles or a pair, connecting to compatible devices via Bluetooth or ANT+. They’ll connect to Zwift, too, and SRM’s iOS/Android apps, which handle over-the-air firmware updates.
