If you’re reading this site it’s probably safe to assume you are into bikes. As the photo above illustrates, bicycles have come a long way in a fairly short period of time. It’s kind of crazy to think where bicycles will be in another 50 years. To be part of that continuing development a major brand in the bicycle industry is conducting a confidential project and has invited our readers to be a part of a small group of cycling enthusiasts whose opinions may help shape the future of bicycle technology.

If you want your voice heard, follow this link to the survey which should take 10 minutes or less to complete.

Bike Rumor readers often remind me of a quote that may or may not be from Henry Ford: “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”

…and that’s how we ended up with e-bikes.

Do away with the Lugano Charter and let bike companies do what they want instead of worrying about whether or not their bikes are UCI legal. Look at the bikes from the 90’s vs now. Just about every bike looks the same today.

So we’re going to see Zipp stems and MTB wheels soon?

@Scotty – It’ll be like the Group B of the cycling world! As long as they make 500 Homologated pieces for the public, bike racers can use it!!!! 😉

Well…. Looks like SRAM is going to change verry soon. Or at least will be trying

No option for recumbent in the bike type list?

@Trav well, recumbents kinda come in those flavors too, but you’re right that a nice “other” box would have been good–for bents, cruisers, choppers, penny farthings, etc

Also, what about this survey was about innovation, other than the marketing terms (which were hilarious, don’t get me wrong. It’s like the car guys joking about all Italian cars having “soul” and “passion”–all bikes next year will be Confident!). It should be called what it is, a marketing survey…

The write-in portions of the survey.

That is all.

Don’t let me down, internet.

I got passed by an e bike the other day.

Also, who is the Survey run by? It got mad at me when I said I was not looking into buying a bike with SRAM, and asked me again if I would buy SRAM.

If it weren’t for disc brakes in the Sram components picture, I probably would have considered the bike.

This survey has a little spelling error: it spells re-branding, not innovation.

@ZigaK: Truth.

Just took the survey. That’s a marketing survey, not too heavy on the innovation side of things.

The rate of bicycle innovation has been squelched by big brands that “need” to control the rate of consumer-ready “innovations.” It’s really sad, if you think about it. Computers have come a long way… I remember seeing a mountain bike here on B.R., maybe three years ago, and it was the breath of fresh air that I’d been waiting for; a brilliant inboard drivetrain and gear-box. The only thing that has advanced is manufacturing; between the advances in machinery, engineering, and cam, all we get are cool widgets. Now, that’s cool, but it’s nothing compared to other things that have advanced a extreme rates. I mean, we’re smashing atoms together, and lubing our chains.

Would be nice to know *from the beginning* who paid for the survey, who asks the questions. Hint? SRAM Corp.

I think sram wants to know if they should rebrand everything they make Sram. I wonder if there is a way to fill out the survey so they think we want them to rebrand brakes and cranks to rockshox.

My bike brand is not relentless enough. I quit riding it.

I got to the second page and got angry with the forced heirarchy. I’m soooo surprised this was SRAM.
