The Cinq Plug Pure 7 is the next generation of Tout Terrain’s long-running dynamo-powered USB charger hidden inside your top cap. And this seventh-generation is now said to be just half the weight, lower stack, higher output, and more affordable than ever in its new simplified design. What’s not to love for anyone looking to cut the cord, even as we rely more and more on GPS ride tracking & navigation, low-consumption LEDs to light our way, and smartphones to stay connected with our friends away from our bikes.
Tout Terrain’s Cinq Plug Pure 7 USB-C dynamo top cap charger

Now that we cyclists depend so much on electronics, I’m a strong proponent of hub dynamos for self-sufficient charging on the go – especially for bikepacking and other extended adventure touring. And there’s no sleeker power setup than a dynamo wired internally to a Cinq Plug USB-C output, coming directly out of your top cap.
This latest one from German touring bike maker Tout Terrain‘s Cinq component brand is simpler than ever and cheaper. No better way to add seamless dynamo-powered charging to your bike that you almost can’t even see!
What’s new?

The Cinq Plug Pure 7 drops the original Plusg’s rotating door design that used to cover the USB-C port, since everything is fully water and dust-proof anyway. Combined with the fact that this pared-down design integrates everything directly into a combined top cap & steerer spacer, which allowed Cinq to significantly chop the overall height. Now down to just 11mm above your stem (compared to 25mm in the previous Plug5 Pure or even a bit higher for the Plug6 Plus), you end up with a much sleeker cockpit setup, while still able to charge all your gadgets.
Much lower stack also means less weight, down from 43-50g, to just 23g now.
It also gets a 14% boost in power output, now cranking out 800mA to juice up hungry smartphones and big screen GPS cycling computers.
