In August, Transition updated the Sentinel 29er with modern trail bike geometry and updated specs like Boost axle spacing and metric shocks. Now, the Transition Sentinel Carbon adds a grand to that bike’s prices but brings frame weight down to a claimed 6.83lb (3.1kg)…almost 2.5 pounds (1.1kg) lighter than the alloy model!
The Sentinel Carbon maintains the same geometry, hardware and top two complete bike build options, but upgrades the frame to a full carbon front and rear triangle.
Their GiddyUp suspension platform keeps it lively, with the rider well supported when pedaling, but ready for the big hits with 140mm of travel. Up front, a 160mm fork handles the initial impact and helps keep those big wheels rolling. The Sentinel was designed, as they put it, as the 29er for riders who hate 29ers, using their stretched top tube, short stem and upright seat angle to keep the rider in an aggressive position that works well in both high and low speed situations:
