Sadly (for us in Greensboro, anyway), the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame will be packing up and heading west.

After a year-long search, Bill Brunner and Eddie Albert from the USBHOF narrowed it down to Greensboro, NC, and Davis, CA…and today, Davis won.  Why?  Well, all of the reasons haven’t been disclosed, but:

The city of Davis, CA, has “more bikes than people” according to its own propaganda, and it’s already home to the California Bicycle Museum.  It was the first city in that state to have bicycle lanes, and it’s logo even has a bike in it.  Lastly, the USBHOF held their induction ceremony there in 2008.

Hats of to Neil Belenky who headed up Greensboro’s task force to bring the Hall here.  There’s nothing on the USBHOF website yet, but more is on the Greensboro News-Record website.
