At first glance, VeloToze’s new tall shoe covers made from Silicone looks pretty much the same as all of their previous rubber shoe covers, tightly fit over your shoes & socks. But lurking under the instep of the new shoe covers are a pair of snaps that should make these much easier to get on and off!
VeloToze Tall Shoe Covers, now in synthetic Silicone with snaps
Most cyclists who use VeloToze’s shoe covers, like them for their 100% waterproofness, aero fit, and relatively low price. But especially the tall versions are quite difficult to get on an off – requiring you to put them on before your shoe, then forcefully stretch them over your shoes. It’s tricky enough, that many a VeloToe has been lost, breaking the somewhat fragile latex in the process, leading some people to see them as one-time-use for getting caught out in cold rain only.
Now with an all-new material and a snap-together fit, life should be easier with the slightly more expensive VeloToze Tall Shoe Cover – Silicone. You still put them on before your shoes, but stretching them over will be easier, for sure.
Tech details
These new windproof & waterproof rubber shoe covers are actually made of 100% synthetic silicone rubber, as opposed to the natural latex rubber of the standard VeloToze. Made from a slightly thicker material that might offer more insulation, these Silicone covers are meant to be a better solution for riding in colder weather (down to -5°C/23°F). They also should be a viable option for people with latex allergies.
Two plastic snaps secure the Silicone covers over your shoe. The new synthetic covers share VeloToze’s standard road shoe openings, with thicker material around the cleat & heel openings for durability.
