After many years of anticipation, Verve is back with a complete overhaul to their crank power meter that set a benchmark for no-hassle accuracy with their all-new modular InfoCrank IC2. It still remains a bit of a tease for official launch later this year, but now you can pre-order the InfoCrank2 and be one of the first to get the sleek new powermeter crankset…

Serious athletes and trainers loved the set-it and forget-it accuracy of the original Verve InfoCrank, not to mention a lot of successful gold-medal-winning Olympians & World Champs. We even put a pair through some brutal cyclocross and gravel testing for years without any problems. But not everyone was thrilled with the bulky alloy crankarms or being limited to 110BCD chainrings…

And while evolving the road InfoCrank to a track version, and ultimately a customizable 3D-printed titanium iteration, it was time for a proper overhaul mixing their proven power accuracy with more modern compatibility.

Enter the InfoCrank IC2…

What’s new?

Verve calls the InfoCrank IC2 power meter a ground-up redesign, as pretty much the only carryover is the technology design and layout of the strain gauges in-line with pedaling forces which measures rider torque and cadence from within the crank arms, automatically eliminates data drift over time, automatically compensates for temperature and pressure changes, and ensures repeated reliable power measurement accuracy in all conditions – no need for ongoing recalibration or zeroing.

Now that tech gets integrated into a sleek new aero-profile crankset with a modular spider and new bottom bracket spindle.

The new “Beyond Hollow” alloy arms are certainly sleeker, but also said to increase stiffness while lowering total weight, thanks in part also to the new proprietary 24mm spindle that improves universal BB compatibility. And as before they’ll come in more lengths than most power meter cranks, so athletes get the fit they need to perform their best: 155, 160, 165, 170, 172.5 & 175mm options.

InfoCrank tech was always built to work in changing conditions and multiple disciplines. Now thanks to a modular spider, you can easily switch your IC2 crankset from road to mountain bike riding, training & racing… and anything in between. The road 4-arm 110 spider is already ready, and Verve are working on track 5-bolt 144, and both BMX & MTB 4-arm spiders.

Tech-wise, the IC2 also gets new and improved electronics and connectivity inside  – now including both ANT+ and BLE.

InfoCrank IC2 pre-order – Pricing & availability

Still officially just a pre-sale, the mostly non-refundable pre-order guarantees you one of the first InfoCrank IC2 power meters and of course a “generous early bird discount”. Buying now, the first 100 cranks sold will save 15%. That means you will pay $842 / 977€ compared to the final retail price of $990 / 1150€, and will receive a crankset with a 4×110 spider in December 2022. After those are gone, the next 150 will sell for 10% off, then 250 more at 5% off.

Verve claims the IC2 “takes the world’s best power meter technology and houses it in an industry-leading crank arm”.
