Many brand’s entry-level mountain and gravel bikes don’t hit a price-point that allows for a dropper seat post. So, dropping your saddle height at the push of a lever is not an option. Further, those bikes are often spec’d with seat clamps that require an Allen key to adjust saddle height. Not ideal, right? Fear not, quick release seat clamps are available aftermarket; new on the scene are Wolf Tooth quick release seat clamps, available in six diameters.
Wolf Tooth quick release seat clamps
The new Wolf Tooth quick release seat clamp allows for easy saddle height adjustments. An ergonomic lever opens and closes the clamp, which is held together by a bolt with a spherical washer and bronze bushing that allows the rider to set the torque. It is friendly with carbon, steel, alloy, and titanium frames that use circular tubing.
Made from 6061-T6 aluminum, the Wolf Tooth QR seat clamps are machined in their Minnesota machine shop. Six models are available in 28.6mm, 29.8mm, 31.8mm, 34.9mm, 36.4mm, and 38.6mm diameters to fit most rounded seat tubes.
For steel and aluminium frames, Wolf Tooth recommend that riders apply a thin layer of grease to the inside surface of the clamp. For carbon frames, riders should stick to the frame manufacturer’s advice.
