Recently, If you’ve been on the Wolf Tooth Components website, you may have noticed two different anodized purple variants. The “standard purple” as it is now known, has been around since WTC started anodizing color options. That OG purple is now being replaced with a new-school color with old-school inspiration: Ultraviolet Purple.

The response to the Ultraviolet Purple has been overwhelmingly positive since it first appeared on the Waveform Aluminum Pedals back in 2022. It’s bright and vibrant. And purple!

WTC’s new Ultraviolet purple will be available on headsets, grip collars, seatpost clamps, center lock rotor lockrings, headset spacers, alloy bar end plugs, ReMote levers, and anything else on this page

I’m having flashbacks to my 90’s MTB life!

Those were great days indeed! I loved all the anodized parts back then that enabled us to add color accents to our rigs. I’m so stoked that Wolf Tooth puts this stuff out into the world. Although I am more partial to the orange components.

If any of you knows how the term 3D Violet (or 3D Ultraviolet, I can’t recall?) started, I’d love to hear. IIRC, Grafton or Ringle (or maybe even Cook Bros.) were the first to offer it and, although I’ve never owned anything that color, I’ve always been a fan. Maybe that was just what their anodizing supplier called it? Maybe you’ve got the scoop on this, Ron?

I remember Ringle working with a local wheel builder for prototypes. Straight outta Trenton Nj!

This makes me want to replace my old Wolftooth purple, but that purple is an exact match for Paul purple.

Anyone has any idea how to remove the branding on headset spacers? It kinda is similar to “laser-etched” and printed at the same time. Old trick of nail-polish remover doesn’t work… I hate how brands like Wolftooth or Burgtec put their logo on those that it sticks out like a sore thumb.

It is most likely laser etched after anodize. It’s not coming off unless you grind it off.

On a dream bike build, I went with an HS from White Industries because the HS was anodized after the laser engraving was done. FWIW, I went with black–and that likely doesn’t everyone–but the HS is all black without the branding in a contrasting color. I suspect some company out there, maybe WI, would do the same thing in other colors. Of course, it’ll likely cost more.

I hate loud branding on everything.
